What We Do at CCS:

Year 5 – 6 Band

In Year 5 and 6, students are given the opportunity to be part of the Instrumental Music Program (IMP) where they will be part of a band and learn to play a brass instrument (trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, tubas and percussion). Group lessons will be given by qualified Music teachers and student will also combine with other school bands to perform to the community. Students can continue with the program into High School.

Beginners to Advanced
Teachers provide instructions and demonstrations on how to play at a basic level up to an advanced level.

Students will also have the opportunity to take part in Chess competitions against schools across all of the ACT.

Leadership

House Captains (Year 6) and House Leaders (Year 5) are responsible for providing teachers assistance with supporting students in the playground, Sports Carnivals and showing pride in their school. They are also part of the Student Leadership Team. This team is essential for the smooth running of all whole school events and will be involved in collaborative decision making in regards to school procedures and events.

Sport

Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sport gala days organised by the Primary School Sports Association (ACT school sports) across all of ACT. Students will also have opportunities to engage in specific sports programs run by local sporting agencies. For example Brumbies ACT has a school program for students to learn about Rugby and participate in skills training.
